Board & Train

How often do you train my dog while Boarding & Training

As a full-time dog trainer, I have the luxury to train each dog up to 6x a day, every day.

How long is my dog left un-attended?

As a full-time dog trainer, allows me to spend time hourly throughout the day with Board & Trains I have for the week.

Where does my dog sleep?

Depending on your dogs normal routine, we can either crate your dog inside or they can use our insulated kennels that we have purchased from SouthernCross custom kennels

What if my dogs unsettled at night?

Our facility allows us to even hear the smallest of wines and barks, which means we are able to comfort your dog in its time of need.

A lot of Board and Train facilities say they need my dog for a month?

At 4DK9 we only take 3 board and trains a week and being our fulltime job, this allows us to get in more repetitions then a facility that takes more dogs or only works part-time. This means the majority of what you need can be sorted in 1 to 2 weeks, which saves the client money and time away from their beloved dog.

Do I need to continue the training when I get my dog back?

Absolutely, we will have set up the behaviour and got as many repetitions in as possible. During our handover we will go through exactly how we have achieved these behaviours and empower you on how to keep it going so that you can continue to live in domestic harmony with your dog.

JP was excellent with our naughty Australian Shepherd, Koda. He’s just 12 months old with zero attention and discipline. Within 30 minutes he had him behaving himself in a way he never has before. JP from 4DK-9 goes the extra mile, every time. When Habib (Blue American Staffy) came into our lives, I made a promise to myself that I would invest the time and effort into ensuring he would be the best dog for our family. Without JP’s (4DK-9) contribution to his development, this would not have been possible, as I would have Habib participate in the board & train element every 5 weeks (5 weeks with us at home & 1 week with JP), as it has been instrumental to his development.

There is a completely different stimulation that is offered to Habib, that as dog owners, we cannot offer. Leaving Habib to board with JP, to have a break from his daily routine at home has created a more independent and intelligent dog without a doubt. JP is an open book, his passion for animals and helping people understand dogs is fundamental in everything he does. Habib loves seeing JP and the stimulation he receives during that week, as mentioned earlier, is incredible – there is nothing worse than knowing that your dog isn’t comfortable. JP’s professionalism and experience with training K9s is also evident in his knowledge, methodology and actions. He has advised us with everything from Habib’s diet to sleeping habits and crate training. One of the most impressive parts of Habib’s training is the fact that JP learned all his commands in Lebanese/Arabic. JP stays in touch throughout the whole process whether it is through videos or messages (when Habib is staying with him or at home), he is there to guide and maintain the lessons taught. JP’s investment in Habib has been evident since he first welcomed us into his family; and we could not be more grateful for his dedication. We highly recommend JP as a trusted trainer/handler for your dog, especially if you want to create a more fulfilling lifestyle and relationship with them.

My 15 month Rottweiler Voss and I had our first session with JP today. To say I was stoked with our session, the training we were taught and JP would be an understatement. After the long hour and twenty-minute drive there, I am pleased to say it was well worth it & we will be making this drive many more times in the future!! The progress that was made in just one session was remarkable. No force was used, all methods were intelligent and set the dog up to succeed rather than fail.

Voss generally ignores everyone except myself but JP had his attention and focus from the moment Voss met him. All methods were explained as we were going along and absolutely all my questions (be them as silly as they were I’m sure to JP) were answered with kindness and an explanation was given not just an answer. Being disabled I learn a bit differently, JP modified his teaching to suit how I needed to be taught to understand and grasp concepts and being an amputee I tend to cover up my arm; JP is a very kind and personable human and had me feeling completely comfortable within ten minutes and I was subconsciously comfortable rolling up my sleeve to show my amputated arm to hold the excess lead, this was pointed out by my friend who drove me down once we got back in the car, for me this was huge as I generally hide it. I feel so extremely blessed to have been put onto 4DK9 and will be back after we complete our homework! I love that JP is available in between sessions to send progress videos to and to get feedback on how the progress is going. After interviewing over 6 different trainers I am so glad I kept searching until I came across JP. For anyone considering dog training, I would recommend JP. His techniques and fairness with the dog is sure to bring out the best in all breeds and all types of training. I can not compliment him enough. We took our big 14-month Rottweiler Leroy for a session with JP yesterday. Leroy is a “covid” boy who had only had very basic training by us.. He pulls so much I’m sure my neighbours were waiting for the free entertainment when one day he finally drags me over… (he weighs the same as me) When we arrived at JP’S and without fail he dragged me everywhere while JP came out to meet him.. JP was very patient and chatted to us for 10 mins while we explained the habits that we had let Leroy get away with.. we handed the leash over and he worked his magic.

While walking he was happy to answer any further queries .. He showed us how to walk him and how to get him to listen to us even when he is distracted.. we felt like we have walked away with a brand new dog.. we can’t recommend JP highly enough, If you have the same issues contact him! He is brilliant.. can’t wait to go back for next training session in a few weeks.. (JP even feeds his mates the magpies and Galahs while training which was awesome).

JP is actually the best! He didn’t tell us what not to do but rather what we should do, which was amazing! He was so knowledgeable about dogs and shared the reasons behind his methods, which helped us understand our dog better. Our 8 month old GSD warmed up to him so quickly, and JP was so kind towards him. We have always been nervous with trainers as most can be arrogant and pushy, but JP absolutely blew us away with how comfortable he made it for all of us, and how understanding he was.

Our boy was responding to his training within the first session! 10/10 recommend, he’s a genuinely great bloke and even better dog trainer.

Not your average puppy school/dog trainer. Going there and having absolutley no idea about dogs JP was so knowledgable with big and small dogs. For the first time meeting him and interacting with my dog I felt at ease, he was training her and explaining to us in detail why he was doing what he was and answering all questions. It made me feel really comfortable and helped me being the first puppy. JP also communicates via messages after training day if I had any questions.

I would highly recommend JP and his services. I sent my rottie Blade for a week to board and train with JP. He was extremely professional and provided multiple daily updates to ensure confidence that Blade was in good hands and having a blast learning. I am amazed at the progress he has made with her in a week. I now feel confident in walking her and feel I have valuable tools to help continue her training.
